"Cannoli n." Yesterday's OEDWOTD

It defies belief that OUP should publish the OED-WOTD entry for "cannoli n." yesterday without referencing the most important use of the word since the cannolo was invented!

Granted, in "The Godfather," Mario Puzo's use of the word may not contain requisite context to understand the word's meaning. But there is hardly a person on Earth who wouldn't first call to mind Puzo's book or adapted screenplay when hearing the word used. Time is not likely to change that.

My ten cents.

I'm going to the mattresses on this one!

    Well, there's me for one.

Besides, I don't think the OETD website has anything to do with OUP — let alone the with the OED. Perhaps OUP should ask them to change their name.
