Comma with quotes, I'm so confused, please help!

I'm very confused as to where I put the comma and fullstop after quotes in this silly example sentence.

Then there was also the ‘Crazy Scientist', another sister who was incredibly rude, and her boyfriend ‘Cheeseburger’.

Or...

Then there was also the ‘Crazy Scientist,' another sister who was incredibly rude, and her boyfriend ‘Cheeseburger.’

Thanks for helping, I really appreciate it. I so want to get this grammatically correct. I think the first is correct, but I'd love to hear an expert opinion!

  • Hi @mtrmtr. Your first sentence looks correct to me, with the comma falling outside the quotation marks. The only time I think you would place a comma inside quotation marks would be where the quotation marks indicate speech. I hope this makes sense!
