Oxford Dictionaries API v2: v1 shutdown

SimoneSimone Administrator admin

This is a reminder that the new v2 of the Oxford Dictionaries API was released in April.

We will be shutting down the API v1 in less than 4 weeks, on Sunday 30th June 2019. After this date any applications that are still using v1 will no longer work.

If you hold a Free account
After the 30th June you will not be able to access the API v2 unless you have updated your plan. Follow this link to choose your Prototype or Developer plan.

If you hold a Basic/Pro/Premium account
On 30th June we will automatically update your plan to our new Developer plan. Please do not change your plan in advance of this date, as there is a risk you will be charged for both.

You should aim to migrate your applications to v2 as soon as possible. Follow this link for guidance on how to update your code.

We've had great feedback from users who have already migrated to v2.
We look forward to seeing what you build with v2!

And if you have any questions, comments, or feedback, let us know below and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

    Hi @Simone

We will be shutting down the API v1 in less than 4 weeks, on Sunday 30th June 2019. After this date any applications that are still using v1 will no longer work.

The v1 documentation page however says that the shutdown date is Jul 31, 2019. While I'd support a late shutdown date due to unresolved bugs in v2, we still need to know one definitive date.

    Thanks

    Hi @shahood
Oh, thank you very much for flagging this up to us!

Our colleagues who manage the pages have been alerted, and will amend the date there - the correct date is indeed 30th June.

Thanks again, and if you notice anything else that doesn't look right, let us know!
